Big Bend Tailwater Access Area

The new Big Bend Tailwater Access Area just downstream of Kinzua Dam is open for public use. The access is located on the right descending bank of the Allegheny River just upstream of the US Fish & Wildlife Service Allegheny National Fish Hatchery.

Vehicular access is provided to the site, which consists of 14 parking spaces (3 of which are ADA accessible), an ADA accessible deck that lies adjacent to the river, and a bulletin board with interpretive materials.

Interested anglers and other visitors can reach this facility by following directional signs to Allegheny National Fish Hatchery from Warren. A new road, which directly services the Tailwater Access Area, makes a left turn just before the hatchery fence.

This facility is open to vehicular access 24/7, except - (1) when discharge from Kinzua Dam floods the lower parking lot and (2) during winter when snow and ice accumulation causes hazardous road conditions.
