Kinzua County in the Pennsylvania Wilds

 

In the early 1800's settlers came to log the regions lush forests, mid-century they came to drill for oil.  Their legacy to all it the national historic district in the city of Warren and the villages of Sheffield, Sugar Grove, Tidioute and Youngsville.  The great Victorian homes that they built stand today as a testament to the wealth that logging and oil brought to the region.

Warren counties diverse array of attractions makes it a great vacation destination for all ages and interests. Our outdoor recreational activities include the Allegheny National Forest, Kinzua Dam and Chapman State Park; each providing hiking, camping and water activities for the entire family.  Consider a golf package at on of our meticulously groomed and scenic courses.

Heritage and cultural enthusiasts can enjoy a show at the historic library theatre, tour a museum or art gallery or spend a leisurely afternoon browsing in an antique or specialty shop (one showcases several animated displays where you are encouraged to linger and enjoy).  End your day by dining at one of our restaurants featuring local favorite menu items.

Warren County is your four season destination-summer brings warm sunny days to enjoy the many water activities available at the marina on the reservoir or from one of the outfitters located along the Allegheny River.  An eclectic menu of events and festivals range from the award winning Warren County Fair to a Ribfest & a Corn Festival featuring a corn maze for the children & the young at heart.  Music is heard throughout the county.

Autumn brings a spectacular display of foliage; events include a fishing tournament and a Johnny Appleseed Festival and county road side stands are laden with harvest items.  Warren County is your winter playground, enjoy snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, sledding, hiking through snow white silent forests, ice fishing on the Allegheny Reservoir and Winterfest/sled dog races held annually at Chapman State Park.  With spring comes rebirth; wild flowers, fawns, eaglets and mountain laurel blooming throughout the county.
